Question: What foods make acne worse?
The saying goes ˇ§we are what we eatˇ¦ and many foods are believed to
have an adverse effect on the skin and incidents of acne.
Therefore it would make sense to cleanse your system and avoid these
foods which would include foods with a lot of animal fats or that are
loaded with saturated fatty acids. So the foods to avoid are: fast food,
oily fried food, foods with a lot of animal fat - eg. McDonalds, pizza,
fried chicken etc.
Increasing water, vitamins and citric acid from fruits seem to be
highly beneficial. So the foods to increase in consumption are: oranges
and apples, drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Question: Does Vegemite help acne?
Vegemite contains vitamin B5. Sometimes (ie. rarely) a deficiency in
vitamin B5 can result in acne. So, you could argue that Vegemite does
actually help acne - it just depends if the reason you're getting acne
is from a lack of vitamin B5.
Question: Is Asprin good for acne?
There has been information from acne sufferers who have claimed that
using asprin on their skin works really well. The idea is that you make
a scrub out of crushed asprins (non-coated), and rub into your face
(careful not to get into your eyes). One user mixed crushed asprins with
toothpaste to make the paste. After washing off the scrub they put lots
of aloe vera on their face (100% aloe). Another actually dissolved
the asprin and rubbed it into her face, leaving for a few minutes before
washing away.
Question: Would applying Vinegar for acne work?
Vinegar can apparently be helpful in clearing up acne by killing off
bacteria, balancing the pH of you skin, and by absorbing your natural
skin oils. You can try this by first cleaning your face, then applying
diluted vinegar (eight parts water to one part vinegar), and leave on
skin. Rinse off after a few minutes. You can use normal vinegar or apple
cider vinegar. DON'T GET THE VINEGAR IN YOUR EYES!
Question: Sodium Bicarbonate acne - does it help?
(sodium bicarb is also known as baking
powder)
Sodium bicarbonate has purportedly got properties that can aid in
clearing acne. To use it you need to dilute a small teaspoon with water
so that it forms a watery paste. Apply on affected areas, taking extra
care to AVOID YOUR EYES and leave for a few minutes. Wash off and pat
dry your skin. Users have said that after a few days of regular use that
their skin becomes softer and more supple. |
